چکیده

Abstract Background Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) are an emerging global problem that increases in-hospital mortality, length of stay, and cost. We performed a 6-year retrospective study to provide valuable insight into appropriate antibiotic use in HAI cases. also aimed understand how hospitals could reduce pathogen drug resistance population overuses antibiotics. Methods All data (2012–2017) were obtained from the hospital information warehouse clinical microbiology laboratory. Results isolated 1392 strains patients admitted orthopedics department during 2012–2017. Escherichia coli (14.7%, 204/1392), Enterobacter cloacae (13.9%, 193/1392), Staphylococcus aureus (11.3%, 157/1392) most common pathogens causing nosocomial infections. The dominant Gram-negative bacterium was E. , with high ampicillin, levofloxacin, cotrimoxazole, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, order. least resistant amikacin, cefoperazone-sulbactam. Gram-positive S. highly penicillin but not fluoroquinolones cotrimoxazole. Analysis risk factors related multidrug-resistant bacteria showed open fractures (Gustillo III B IIIC) significantly more susceptible methicillin-resistant ( p < 0.05). Additionally, extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing occurred often degenerative diseases Elderly tended be bacterial infections, this outcome statistically significant. Conclusions Antimicrobial is serious orthopedics. To effectively control antimicrobial among pathogens, we advocate extensive dynamic monitoring MDR bacteria, coupled careful

Antimicrobial Drug Resistance in Pathogens Causing Nosocomial Infections at a University Hospital in Taiwan, 1981-1999

To determine the distribution and antimicrobial drug resistance in bacterial pathogens causing nosocomial infections, surveillance data on nosocomial infections documented from 1981 to 1999 at National Taiwan University Hospital were analyzed. During this period, 35,580 bacterial pathogens causing nosocomial infections were identified. Candida species increased considerably, ranking first by 19...

Resistance to Aminoglycoside Antibiotics in Escherichia coli Isolated from Urinary Tract Infection in Iran in 2000-2012: A Systematic Review

Background and Objectives: Resistance to aminoglycosides has become a major problem in the treatment of urinary tract infection due to the extensive use of this antibiotic group. Due to the increased resistance of Escherichia coli to aminoglycosides, this study systematically evaluated the resistance to aminoglycosides by Escherichia coli isolated from urinary tract infection (UTI) in Ira...
